Old Testament

Psalms 21

The king rejoices in your strength, LORD. How greatly he rejoices in your salvation!

You have given him his heart's desire and have not withheld the request of his lips. Pause and think.

Because you welcome him with rich blessings; you place a crown of pure gold on his head.

He asked you for life, and you gave it to him — length of days, forever and ever.

His glory is great because of your salvation; you have bestowed splendor and majesty on him.

Because you have made him most blessed forever; you have filled him with joy in your presence.

Because the king trusts in the LORD, and through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken.

Your hand will find all your enemies; your right hand will find those who hate you.

You will make them like a blazing furnace when you appear in anger; the LORD will swallow them up in wrath, and fire will consume them.

You will destroy their descendants from the earth, their offspring from among humanity.

Because they intended evil against you; they devised a wicked scheme that they cannot carry out.

You will make them turn their backs when you aim your bow at their faces.

Be exalted, LORD, in your strength! We will sing and praise your might.
