Old Testament

Psalms 16

Keep me safe, God, because I take refuge in you.

I said to the LORD: You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.

As for the holy people who are in the land, they are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.

The sorrows of those who chase after other gods will multiply. I will not pour out their drink offerings of blood, and I will not speak their names with my lips.

LORD, you are my portion and my cup; you make my future secure.

The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; yes, I have a beautiful inheritance.

I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.

I have set the LORD always before me; because the LORD is at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

So my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my body also rests secure,

Because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your holy one see decay.

You will show me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand there are pleasures forever.
