New Testament

2 Thessalonians 1

1Paul, Silas, and Timothy. To the church in Thessalonica, who belong to God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

2May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.

3Brothers and sisters, we must always thank God for you, and it is right to do so, because your faith is growing more and more, and your love for one another keeps getting stronger.

4So we are proud of you among the other churches of God. We tell them how patient you are, and how strong your faith stays through all the trouble and suffering you go through.

5All of this shows that God judges fairly, and that you will be counted worthy of God's kingdom, the kingdom you are suffering for.

6God is fair: he will pay back trouble to those who trouble you,

7And he will give rest to you who are troubled, and to us. This will happen when the Lord Jesus appears from heaven with his powerful angels.

8Jesus will come in blazing fire to punish those who do not know God and who will not obey the good news about our Lord Jesus.

9They will be punished with destruction that lasts forever. They will be shut out from the presence of the Lord and from his glorious power.

10This will happen on the day when Jesus comes to be honored by his holy people and to be admired by everyone who believed — and that includes you, because you believed what we told you.

11This is why we always pray for you. We ask our God to make you worthy of the life he called you to, and by his power to complete every good thing you want to do and every work that comes from your faith.

12We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored through you, and you through him, because of the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
