2 John 1

1From the elder. To the chosen lady and her children, whom I love in the truth. And not only I, but also everyone who knows the truth loves you,

2Because of the truth that lives in us and will be with us forever.

3Grace, mercy, and peace will be with us from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father's Son, in truth and love.

4It made me very glad to find some of your children living in the truth, just as the Father commanded us.

5And now, dear lady, I ask you: let us love one another. This is not a new command; it is the one we have had from the beginning.

6And love means this: that we live by his commands. This is the command you heard from the beginning: that you should live in love.

7Many liars have gone out into the world. They do not say that Jesus Christ came as a real human. Anyone like this is a liar and an enemy of Christ.

8Be careful, so that you do not lose what we have worked for, but receive your full reward.

9Anyone who goes too far and does not stay in the teaching of Christ does not have God. But whoever stays in the teaching of Christ has both the Father and the Son.

10If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not welcome that false teacher into your house or even greet that person.

11Anyone who greets that false teacher shares in that teacher's evil work.

12I have much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope to come and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be full.

13The children of your chosen sister send you their greetings. Amen.
