Romans 14

1Welcome anyone whose faith is weak, but do not argue with them about matters of opinion.

2One person believes they may eat anything, while another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables.

3The one who eats everything must not look down on the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, because God has welcomed them.

4Who are you to judge someone else's servant? Whether they stand or fall is their own master's concern. And they will stand, because the Lord is able to make them stand.

5One person thinks one day is more holy than another, while another thinks every day is the same. Each person should be fully convinced in their own mind.

6Whoever treats a certain day as special does it for the Lord. Whoever eats anything does it for the Lord, because they give thanks to God. And whoever does not eat certain things does that for the Lord too, and gives thanks to God.

7For none of us lives only for themselves, and none of us dies only for themselves.

8If we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord. So whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

9For this is why Christ died and came back to life: so that He would be Lord of both the dead and the living.

10So why do you judge your brother or sister? And why do you look down on them? We will all stand before God to be judged.

11For the Scripture says: As surely as I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow before me, and every tongue will give praise to God.

12So then, each of us will give an account of themselves to God.

13So let us stop judging one another. Instead, decide this: do not put anything in your brother's way that would make him trip or fall.

14I know, and the Lord Jesus has convinced me, that no food is unclean in itself. But if someone believes a thing is unclean, then for them it is unclean.

15If your brother is hurt by what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not destroy, by what you eat, someone for whom Christ died.

16Do not let what you know is good be spoken of as evil.

17For the kingdom of God is not about food and drink, but about right living, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

18Anyone who serves Christ in this way pleases God and is approved by people.

19So let us go after the things that lead to peace and that build one another up.

20Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to fall.

21It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or do anything else that makes your brother or sister fall.

22Whatever you believe about these things, keep between yourself and God. Happy is the person who does not feel guilty about what they allow themselves to do.

23But whoever has doubts is condemned if they eat, because they are not acting from faith. And anything that is not from faith is sin.
