Old Testament
Psalms 83
God, don’t keep quiet! Don’t close your ears! Please say something, God.
Your enemies are getting ready to do something. Those who hate you will soon attack.
The enemies are making plans against us, and we are your people. The enemies are thinking about what they can do against the people You love.
The enemies said: Let us kill all of them. They must no longer be a nation, and no one must remember the name of Israel.
For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee:
Their army includes Edomites, the Ishmaelites, the people of Moab and the Hagrites,
The people of Gebal, Ammon and Amalek, the Philistines and the people who live in Tyre.
The people of Assyria are with them too, and they help the children of Lot and make them strong. Paulse and Think
Please do to them what you did to the Midianites, and what You did to Sisera and Jabin at the Kishon River.
They died at Endor. Their bodies lay on the ground and rotted.
Please do to their leaders what You did to Oreb and Zeeb. Cause all of their leaders to die like Zebah and Zalmunna.
They are the people who said: Let us take the land of the people of God for ourselves.
O my God, make them like a whirling dust, Like chaff before the wind
Be like a fire that destroys a forest or like a flame that sets the hills on fire.
Chase them away with your blasts of wind; frighten them with your storms.
Lord, cover them with shame until they come to you for help.
May they be forever ashamed and afraid. Disgrace and defeat them.
Then they will know that only You are the Lord, GOD and that You are the Most High God over all the earth.
