Old Testament
Psalms 6
LORD, do not rebuke me in your anger, and do not discipline me in your wrath.
Have mercy on me, LORD, because I am weak. Heal me, LORD, because my bones are shaking with terror.
My soul is deeply troubled. But you, LORD — how long will this continue?
Turn to me, LORD, and rescue me; save me because of your unfailing love.
Because dead people do not remember you. Who can praise you from the grave?
I am worn out from groaning. Every night I flood my bed with tears; I soak my couch with weeping.
My eyes are swollen and dim with sorrow; they fail because of all my enemies.
Get away from me, all you who do evil, because the LORD has heard the sound of my weeping.
The LORD has heard my cry for help; the LORD accepts my prayer.
May all my enemies be ashamed and deeply troubled; may they turn back in sudden disgrace.
