Old Testament
Psalms 50
The mighty God, the Lord God, who speaks. God calls all the people on earth. God calls them from where the sun comes up to where it goes down.
From Zion, perfect in beauty, God shines forth.
Our God is coming and will not keep quiet. Fire burns in front of him. There is a great storm around him.
God calls the heaven above and the earth to be witnesses when God judges his people
God says: Come here, all of you who believe in Me, all those who sacrificed offerings when they made a covenant with Me.
God is the Judge and everyone in heaven says that He is right and fair. Paulse and think
God says, My people, listen to me! People of Israel, God will show my evidence against you. I am God, your God.
The problem God has with you is not your sacrifices or the burnt offerings you bring to me everyday.
Why would God want more bulls from your barns or goats from your pens?
I, God, already own all the animals in the forest. I own all the animals on a thousand hills.
God know every bird in the mountains. Everything that moves in the fields is mine.
If God was hungry, God would not ask you for food. God already own the world and everything in it.
Does God eat the meat of bulls? Do God drink the blood of goats?
Give God thank for everything, and if you have promised to give something to the Highest God, then you must do it.
God says, pray to me when trouble comes. God will help you, and you will glorify my name.
But to the sinful people God said: What right have you to talk about My law or to take My promise on your lips?
You hate for someone to tell you what to do. and you ignore what I say
You are friends with every thief that you see and when you see someone who commits adultery, you go with him and do the same.
You always want to say something bad, and you continue to tell lies.
You sit around talking about people, you also find fault with your own brothers.
I have kept quiet while you have done all these things, so you thought I was just like you. But I will not be quiet any longer. I will correct you and tell you what you are doing wrong.
You who have forgotten God. Understand what I am telling you, or I will attack you like a lion, and no one will be able to save you.
He who offers a sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving honors God; And to him who follows the way that I show him, I shall show the salvation of God.
