1 Timothy 2

1First of all, then, I urge that requests, prayers, and thanks be made for everyone:

2For kings and for all who are in charge, so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives, in a way that honors God and is good and honest.

3This is good, and it pleases God our Saviour,

4Who wants everyone to be saved and to come to know the truth.

5For there is one God and one go-between for God and people, the man Christ Jesus,

6Who gave Himself as the price to set everyone free. This was shown at the right time.

7And for this I was made a preacher and an apostle — I am telling the truth, I am not lying — a teacher of the true faith to the other nations.

8So I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands, without anger or arguing.

9In the same way, I want the women to dress in a proper and sensible way, with modest clothing. They should not depend on fancy hairstyles, gold, pearls, or expensive clothes,

10But on good deeds, which are right for women who say they worship God.

11A woman should learn quietly and humbly.

12I do not allow a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she should be quiet.

13For Adam was made first, and then Eve.

14And Adam was not the one who was fooled; the woman was fooled and fell into sin.

15But women will be kept safe through having children, if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with good sense.
